Abortion is an offence under common law in Scotland; the Abortion Act 1967 (as amended) applies in Scotland and refers to “any rule of law relating to the procurement of abortion”.

An offence? To have bodily autonomy and to ensure we are free to make the right choices for our lives? Why is abortion criminalised in Scotland?

National Council

Join us online or in person, at our first live National Council since before Covid.  Let’s talk about Abortion Rights and what needs to change.

In addition to our main topic of abortion, we’ll chat about WFI’s current plans and how you can get involved with fundraising for the referendum and advocating for Independence.

Our hosts, WFI Dumfries and Galloway, will also present an evaluation of Equality Impact Assessments in their local authority. This is a great piece of activism that any of us can do in our own area, so if you aren’t familiar with EIAs, listen in and you may be able to make life better in your own region!

Finally, there will be an Open Mic session.

There will be a short break for refreshments and a chance for a blether.

Remote access to the event will be available via a Zoom link, which will be sent to you after registration. Hope to see you there, however you connect!
